A vegan diet implies the elimination of animal products such as meat, fish, seafood, eggs and dairy. The menu is therefore composed of vegetables, cereals, fruit, nuts, seeds and high-quality vegetable oils. Most of these ingredients can be found in SUPERSONIC products. People who make the decision of switching to a plant-based diet do so for a variety of reasons. They most often justify this decision on ethical grounds or the wish to protect the environment. Changing eating patterns also entails various health implications. Are they beneficial? Let’s find out!

Abstract:

  • A plant-based diet is an ally in the pursuit of a slim figure. Animal products can also have a negative impact on the complexion. Changing to a plant-based diet helps fight inflammation and restore balance to the skin.
  • Eating plant-based products helps reduce the risk of cancer, diabetes as well as cardiovascular diseases.
  • SUPERSONIC Food, which is based on a rich, plant-based composition, helps keep the body in good shape.

Plant-based diet and weight

Recent studies show that a plant-based diet is much more effective at slimming down than a conventional diet based on animal products. A study published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine in 2015 leaves no doubt about this. Of the 12 dietary models studied, veganism is the most conducive to maintaining a slim figure at different stages of life.

Plant-based diet and complexion

Animal products contain saturated fats, which increase the risk of vascular diseases, while clogged arteries mean that the skin is no longer supplied with hydration and nutrients.

Meanwhile, another study found a correlation between red meat consumption and increased inflammation in the body. This increases body heat, which in turn leads to the breakdown of collagen and elastin, which are the building blocks of healthy skin. Scientists also agree that excessive meat consumption can be the cause of skin blemishes as well. Furthermore, the occurrence of acne is, according to research, closely linked to the frequent consumption of dairy products. Thus, a plant-based diet is conducive to maintaining a healthy complexion.

Plant-based diet and the risk of cancer

According to a study conducted by researchers at Oxford University, vegans have a significantly lower risk of getting the disease. The experiments, which spanned over 15 years, were carried out on 60,000 British citizens, of whom approx. 18,000 were on a vegetarian diet, with as many as 2,246 being vegan. It was then found that the incidence of cancer, compared to those who eat meat, was 11% lower in vegetarians as well as 19% lower in vegans.

Plant-based diet and diabetes

Scientists have noted that a plant-based diet is linked to a reduction in the risk of type 2 diabetes by an average of 60%. They further demonstrated that people who eat a healthy version of a plant-based diet, with an emphasis on fresh fruit, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and legumes, can enjoy a decrease in overall body weight, as well as lower blood sugar levels.

Plant-based diet and cardiac diseases

A vegan diet is directly correlated with a reduced risk of myocardial failure. The risk of death from cardiovascular diseases is reported to be 26% lower than for those who eat meat. Factors causing acute heart failure include hypertension, diabetes and obesity. It has been proven that switching to a plant-based diet can be linked to a better prognosis.
